The more we have the more we want it would seem.
Report out today shows how members of the UK parliament have been caught stuffing large quantities of freebie pre-paid envelopes and stationary into their pockets. We’re not talking small here. One MP had £22,000 (that’s $44,000) worth in one month. What do they do with it? Sell it on ebay?
Only a short while ago many of them were caught out fiddling their expenses. One MP had clocked up enough miles on her expenses sheet to have travelled twice round the world.
This is of course on top of an overly generous allowance for free homes, free staff, free fuel, free travel, subsidised food, subsidised alcohol, and so on and so on…..and I haven’t even mentioned the gold plated index linked inflation proof retirement pension they will get at age 40.
Now if you or I had been caught with our hands in the cash register so to speak, we would consider ourselves lucky to get away with just losing our job, and heave a sigh of relief if we didn’t hauled through the justice system.
I don’t imagine any of them would go out and mug an old lady walking down the street. So why on earth do they think it’s ok to mug taxpayers?
Very unlovely people.
I know what I’ll be writing on my ballot paper come the next election. ‘None of the above’.
